System Requirements
Basics: If your computer has a modem and your house has
a phone line, you can use MyWorld.Net. Still, you may find it easiest if
you computer is running MacOS 9 or 10, or Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, or XP.
(If you're running Windows 95, you'll need to be running the latest releases
of Microsoft Dial-Up Networking
("MS DUN 1.4")
and Microsoft Windows Socket Extension ("MS Winsock 2").)
To use MyWorld Turbo, you'll need Win 95b or newer,
64 MB of memory, 5 MB of hard disk space, and a processor at least as fast
as a 200 MHz Pentium.
Browser: You'll need a web browser so you can view sites
on the World Wide Web. If you don't already have one that you like, we
suggest that you choose one of these:
Mozilla for Windows, Mac, and others |
 |
Netscape Navigator for Windows and others |
 |
Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows PC users |
 |
Apple Safari for Mac OS X users |
 |
Modem: To get online, your computer needs to have a
modem connected to an active telephone line. We recommend the highest
speed available, currently 56k with support for the v.92 protocol, but
slower modems will work as well. For MyWorld Turbo,
your access speeds will go 4 to 6 times faster than the regular speed
of your modem. So a 28.8k modem with Turbo will run slower than
a 56k modem with Turbo, but still much faster than a 28.8k
modem without Turbo.
